Licensing board rejects Wetherspoon application

An application for an on and off sales licence by J D Wetherspoon (Scot) Ltd for a proposed public house in the former HMRC building in Stirling’s Spittal Street was rejected by the District of Stirling Licensing Board at its meeting yesterday morning (Wednesday 1 February).

Removal of cemetery wreaths

Volunteers needed at Plean Country Park

On Wednesday 8th February - 11am - 3pm, Stirling Council's Ranger Service is looking for volunteers to help with a day of cutting and removing the dead stalks of the common reed and bulrushes in the filtration reed beds. This work needs done each year to prevent litter building up at the bottom and stopping the plants from oxygenating the water, which filters into the Plean Burn.

Search for a new Stirling Makar

Stirling’s first protocol book comes home!

Staff at Stirling Council's Archive are really excited that Stirling's first Protocol Book has just been repatriated from the National Records of Scotland! Alan Borthwick from The National Records of Scotland (NRS) dropped off the 15th century volume to delighted Archives staff on Wednesday, 25th January.

Steering group meets with minister

Stirling Council’s Beauly to Denny Power Line Steering Group has met with the Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing MSP, to discuss the Ministers’ recent decision to approve Scottish Power Transmission’s (SPT) Visual Impact Mitigation Scheme though the Stirling area, and the additional compensatory mitigation requested by the Minister.
