Bogus Charity Collections

Bogus Charity LeafletThere's been a lot of this type of leaflet posted through the doors recently, all asking for some kind of donation of clothing, bric-a-brac, etc. Whilst some of these are genuine charities, there's a growing proportion of them that are known scams. The example one shown here even has a proper website, but a search on the name will turn up loads of warnings about them - example on this site

I know we've personally had the same leaflets in the past year from at least two of the known bogus schemes, and whilst we didn't get caught out, there could be some that offload a pile of goods that they assume is going to a deserving charity without looking closely at the so called 'charity'.

If you do receive one of these that looks suspicious, add a comment and let others know through this website.

Laughing out loud Charity begins at home! I take any unwanted items to the Fishcross Cat Shelter. Their need is almost as great as any other and a lot closer to home. Other charities do deserve some consideration but animals cannot access websites or deliver flyers/collection bags themselves! So if you have any spare unwanted clothing, bric a brac etc etc in good condition, please remember the Cat Shelter.
