Greenbelt court action? How many residents are refusing to pay?

Today I have received my letter from Greenbelt demanding fees plus late payment fees or they will issue court action.

I have no intention of paying this fee as they are not keeping their side of the deal.

According to them I have a "legal requirement" to pay these fees.Surely they have a "legal requirement" to maintain the estate as they promised to and up until now have fell well short.

Could someone tell how many residents are being threatened with court action and are refusing to pay?

I will contacting them again to complain about their lack of activity on our estate and again state to them my refusal to pay fees for a service they are failing to provide

A new year, more red letters... Greenbelt again!

Another year, and more red letters.

Has anyone heard anything different from Greenbelt this year? We stopped payment last year (with a letter of dispute), and they followed up for a few months when I complained how the area between the woods and the fenceline had been neglected and that the youths in the woods were continuously lighting it on fire.

I also managed to catch the Greenbelt work crew here once, and they said that the area wasn't part of their jurisdiction - although the council said otherwise. Eventually I got an email from Greenbelt stating they were responsible for that section. Late last summer I noticed the area had been razed to the ground, but saw no other work done.

Has anyone noticed any changes in the Greenbelt work schedule (not that they tell us in advance what that schedule is...) I do not want to pay for a service we aren't getting, but want to be prepared for their next line of fire.

Thanks

Another round of empty threats

Yep, we received another letter too. It's gone full circle now and we were threatened with court action through a debt collection agency. We contacted the agency to say we were in dispute and haven't heard nothing from them since. It's now back to Greenbelt's 'internal' threat system for this round.

I'm sure are those that are happy to pay for Greenbelt to come along and cut the grass every so often outside the estate but that's their choice and Greenbelt will continue to intimidate (they've never successfully taken anyone to court as far as we know and the threat of contacting your mortgage provider isn't an option - a couple of mortgage companies have already been embarrassed by this and have told GB to hook it).

For up-to-date details on what Greenbelt's up to I'd recommend grabbing a coffee and looking through the content on the Menstrie estate's website - http://www.spanglefish.com/westmyertonresidents/ - there's a whole load of info on there about what's been going on and what scams Greenbelt are currently being linked with.

Just like Eddie, our letter's also been filed with the rest of them.

Cheers for now,
Brian

Greenbelt Red Letters

Joe from No 45 here

Last August (2010) at a party I spoke with a few neighbours who have and still refuse to pay their Greenbelt Invoices. Up until Aug 10 I paid Greenbelt. Since the non payment chat I then stopped paying.

For the last few months I have been receiving reminders to pay, today I received my first Red letter with the promise of a debt collection agency, court action the full works.

Should I be concerned? Have they followed through with their threats on others in Delphwynd?

Greenbelt (us too)

We have not payed for a few years now and to be honest we are not going to be either.

It seems that we have been sent the same letter, just another one in a long list of threats. We have spoke/wrote to them in the past saying that we would happily pay if the work was actually being carried out.... And since my house faces on to the "waste ground" i can see that it has not been.

I`m a housewife and walking back and forward to school is one of the high lights of my day lol but it also helps me to see exactly what is going on round about ie not much! and because of that i just dont see what exactly we would be paying for if we did.

RED LETTERS

We also received our latest red letter which has now been filed with all the rest.
I would not worry too much about Greenbelt.

Greenbelt invoice

Just received another invoice from Greenbelt today. A complete change from a year ago when they had their debt collection agency threatening us. No red letter, no threats of court action, just a 'late payment' charge.

Also, no list of what work was done, what work is planned, just a request that we keep paying them in blind faith that they'll turn up with their chain gang and cut the grass a few times over the growing season.

If anyone else has received similar I'd hope they'll be doing as I do and requesting a list of work carried out last year and also a plan of work to be carried out this year.

I also plan to go along to the public meeting in Menstrie church hall this Friday (19th March) to support the campaign of non-payment that's taking hold - hopefully I'll catch up with some of you there also.

Cheers for now,

Greenbelt

Greenbelt have just emailed me in response to my email before Christmas. They have indicated a number of dates when their Contractors have been on the Estate but I'm not too sure if that is good enough reason to start paying again.

Any comments from others in the same boat?

Greenbelt demands

If you read back through much of the content on this site, and on others like the West Myerton run website (check out the posts at http://www.spanglefish.com/westmyertonresidents/guestbook.asp for the latest on their situation), you'll see this isn't anything new on the Greenbelt tactic. They seem to have pushed a lot of these letters out in the past week, prior to their upcoming court appearance in Perth.

I'm still withholding payment and will continue to do so as long as necessary to see a change in the way these one-sided land management contracts are forced upon residents.

I'm just off the phone to someone else in the estate who has received the same letter even though they had paid up to the end of last year. It seems a bit heavy handed to be threatening court action with someone who had been paying up until this year.
